This terrace is B-listed, as are a number of buildings on the south side of Main Street.

The buildings on the west side of the Square, with their harled and lime-washed walls and mainly pantiled roofs, some with slate courses at the eaves were renovated in c1971.

The pub at the north end of the terrace is a mid-to-late 18th century building. Now called the Harbour Inn, it was previously known as The Stone Pier Inn – before the Fishmarket was built on reclaimed land a single stone pier was Newhaven’s first quay.

Other commercial properties on this west side towards the south of the pub were owned by a fish salesman, W. E.  Muirhead (which is still there), a trawler owner and fish processor, David Dow Ltd, and, at the end nearest Main Street,  “Michael’s” Chip Shop.
